Maumee is a suburb of Toledo with waterfront views and a substantial number of historic homes near the Maumee River. Maumee has the oldest building in the county, built in 1837 it was once believed to be a stopping point for the Underground Railroad and a smuggling route during prohibition. Currently, the building is occupied by Levi and Lilac’s Whiskey Room which offers a relaxing space specializing in whiskey and handcrafted cocktails.
